Tatum Miller is a Clinical Art Therapist having obtained her Master of Art in Art Therapy in 2000 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in conjunction with Rush Medical School. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Board Certified, Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC). Tatum's professional experience began in Chicago where she developed an after school program for children whose mothers were impacted by severe and persistent mental illness. She was the primary therapist for adolescent girls in a state supported shelter for over 5 years. In addition, she facilitated art therapy groups for children and mothers affected by domestic violence at programs throughout the Chicago area. Working with client's who experienced complex cumulative trauma led Tatum to obtain certification as a trauma specialist through the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children. In 2005, Tatum returned to school to complete a Master of Science. Focusing on aspects of community and authentic communication, it was highly relevant to her work as a therapist.
Over the past 12 years Tatum has been focusing on the integration of trauma
focused somatic interventions. Tatum received a certificate from the
Somatic Experiencing Training Institute in 2015 and is a Somatic
Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). In addition, she has advanced training in
Touch Skills for Trauma Therapists, Somatic Resilience and Regulation, as
well as the NeuroSequential Model of Therapeutics for developmental trauma.
Tatum has 20+ years of experience working with individuals,
couples, families, and groups who have been affected by difficult life
circumstances, severe emotional disturbance, and/or persistent mental
illness. She is currently serving as a private practitioner in Sandpoint,
Idaho working with a broad spectrum of clients. Her practice is
individualized to meet each client's needs based on their life goals and
personal strengths. Her areas of expertise include: art therapy, trauma
resiliency/ resolution, affect regulation, stress management, anxiety
reduction, interpersonal communication, wellness, and life
transition.
In addition to being a prominent art therapist, Tatum has presented at National conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of art therapy, sense of place, and harnessing creative energy in problem solving. Tatum offers personal sessions and professional consultations for Somatic Experiencing and Equusoma students.
